Where Does Your Heart Point?
In Mark 10:35-52, two stories reveal where the human heart points. James and John ask Jesus for seats of honor, exposing a heart aimed at its own greatness. In contrast, blind Bartimaeus cries out "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!", showing a heart that points toward God's mercy. When Jesus asks "What do you want me to do for you?", the right answer is always: Lord, have mercy on me — because his mercy is better than life.
